NCCS Dress Guidelines for 2004-2005

The following dress guidelines have been established in order to present a professional
appearance at performances by providing a degree of uniformity without requiring
identical outfits.

The dress for men for formal performances is a solid black tuxedo with a white tuxedo shirt, bow tie, and dark (preferably black) dress shoes. A solid black suit, worn with tuxedo shirt, bow tie and black shoes may be substituted for the tuxedo.

The dress for women for formal performances is a floor-length solid black skirt or dress
and blouse. The skirt should be long enough to come to the floor. If you choose to buy or
make new garments, a skirt and blouse combination is recommended, because the skirt
can be worn with a different colored blouse for a different occasion.

The dress or skirt may be of any style and fabric with the following restrictions:
     1. The neckline must not be off the shoulder, strapless, (or single-strapped), or overly
         low-cut.
     2. The dress or blouse must have sleeves, but the sleeves may be of any length. Short
sleeves are recommended as performance conditions may be warm.
     3. Avoid fabrics or trims that would cause the wearer to stand out from the rest of
         the  group.
     4. In keeping with the designation of "formal," the blouse should be dressy in nature. The
style may be simple or tailored, but casual garments, such as T-shirts, sweatshirts or
baggy sweaters are to be avoided.

If you are unable for any reason, to obtain the necessary clothing, please ask your section
leader or any Board member for assistance. Many members have items which can be borrowed.

The formal black outfit is not appropriate for every occasion. Some performances require dress that follows a particular theme.
A list of possible performances and the required dress for both women and men follows. If there are changes, you will be notified well in advance.
"Formal Black," means a long black dress or skirt and blouse for women; and tuxedos for men, as described above.
 Fall Concert: Formal Black
Christmas Sing-a-Long: Casual dress. Red, Green, or Holiday-themed clothing is encouraged. Medieval Fair: Medieval Costumes Spring Concert: Formal Black
