
Beverly
McLarry, Director
Beverly McLarry has combined a career of singing and teaching with that
of composing and conducting.
With degrees in vocal performance from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio,
and South Methodist University, where she was a pupil of Mack Harrell,
she has performed at the Berkshire Music Festival, the Composer's Forum
of the Aspen School of Music, the New Hampshire Music Festival, the
Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute, Eine Kleine Chamber
Series, Victoria B.C., and in Oklahoma City with groups such as the
Oklahoma City Chamber Players and the New Lyric Quartet.
Her compositions have been commissioned by St. Luke's United Methodist
Church of Oklahoma City, Temple B'nai Israel of Oklahoma City, Eine
Kleine Summer music of Victoria, B.C., Oklahoma Music Teachers
Association, Master Chorale of Oklahoma City, and the University of
Oklahoma-Women in Music Symposium. She is a 2001 winner of the Miriam
Gideon Price award sponsored by the International Alliance for Women in Music.
She was awarded "Ambassador of Good Will" by the State of Oklahoma,
Freedoms Foundation of Valley Forge Chapter Award, Oklahoma City
Chapter, Citation from the Senate of Oklahoma for contributions to
teaching and composing music in Oklahoma, winner of "Songs of Oklahoma"
contest, sponsored by the Oklahoma Heritage Association. She is presently Music Director and
Composer-in-Residence of the First Unitarian Church in Oklahoma City
and the Norman Community Choral Society of Norman Oklahoma since 1998.
Susan
Babcock, Accompanist
A native of Oklahoma City, Susan
received both her bachelor's and master's of music degrees from the
University of Oklahoma and has accompanied the choral society for more
than five years. She also accompanies Norman High School North choirs
and has provided keyboard support for various instrumentalists, choirs
and vocalists at the university and high school levels.
